1 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
2 And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
4 And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
6 And they could not answer him again to these things.
-Jesus was sent to this existence to redeem mankind. Atonement was needed for the sins of the world. When the Lord saw that the old covenant became tainted with religion and corruption, He entered time to handle the problem Himself. In doing so He became flesh and submitted to a natural process (for the most part).
When He started His ministry publicly, He developed enemies that were very jealous of Him. Not due to his stature or credentials (he was just a carpenter), but the issue was He was God and informed them of such…John 10:30. They didn’t want to receive THIS Jesus because He was not draped in robes, nor did he eat with the influential and kick it with the “who’s who” of Jerusalem….He came with ONE PURPOSE: Life and life more abundantly.
Pursuing and attaining this life, as Jesus shows us in the scriptures, is not a PART TIME JOB! The Pharisees were corrupt in their thinking, only approving CERTAIN DAYS for miracles, and healings…..Jesus called them hypocrites. They seemed to value their traditions more than deliverance and miracles. Jesus even called out their hypocrisy….calling to their attention how much WORK they do to save their cattle, but have an issue with the true WORK of God: Healing of God’s people. (The Sabbath is a Holy day so why not see a display of the POWER of God!?)
Here me: There will be dark days, and there will be days of uncertainty…but JESUS is not concerned WHAT DAY IT IS!!! When you LEAST expect it, and when everyone is looking….He is going to come through! They (Pharisees) are watching to see if Jesus has the AUDACITY to step foot in your situation! Trust me….Jesus will step! Be encouraged!!
