“But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.” Luke 1:13 (KJV)
Zacharias is a priest, with ministry responsibility. Trained in the law of Moses, of Levite descent, Zacharias is taking his turn (rotation) in temple ministry….(verse 5-11)
While performing the incense ritual, Gabriel (an Angel) appears: What God was about to do in the Earth needed an announcement! Most announcements from Heaven are manifested in the Earth (especially in the Bible days) as visitations.
“visitation- the appearance of a divine or supernatural being.”
What is interesting is that The angel declares: Your prayers have been heard”…….then Gabriel foretells the birth of John and His role in the Kingdom of God! The priest and his wife had been praying for a child and God was answering their prayer! As miraculous as this moment was, Zacharias responded from what he knew and not from the realm of faith!
“And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.” Luke 1:18 (KJV)
When God decides to bless/use us, He already knows and considers what we are. He knows you’re timid or emotional. He understands the weaknesses and struggles you have….your issues do not intimidate God! Imagine a divine experience and instead of focusing on the splendor of God’s grace, we start looking at ourselves! The biggest weapon of the enemy is distractions by self-reflecting. God gives a Word and we start looking at ourselves.
“God I can’t, I’m not educated enough.”
“ I don’t have enough money.”
“I’m too old.”
“I’m too young.”
Be careful of these types of responses…they give the impression of unbelief. God truthfully cares nothing about the things you say you “can’t” do! How often do we pray for things and DOUBT God?
He is looking for a FAITH response. As I talked about on the podcast earlier this week: Mary responded in faith and she became a vessel that birthed Christ. Her yes to God changed the world!
1.)God chose to bless you with all those issues. And that didn’t change His mind.
2.) With God NOTHING is impossible! When He makes a promise….the only thing that can stop Him…..is unbelief.
What’s your excuse? Let’s lay those aside and trust God.
